Dear Friend:
My name is Dyanne Yamada McGrath and I am a designer of women’s Hawaiian Inspired Clothing. I was recommended to contact you through a good friend, named Amelia Mimura whose friends called her “Auntie Emily,” who is a Hula teacher in Southern California. Auntie Emily’s students both wear and dance in the clothes that I design and manufacture.
I was born and raised in Honolulu and graduated from the University of Hawaii in Fashion Design. I married a writer of Hawaiian history, named Ed McGrath and together we have four grown children and four grandchildren.
My parents were second generation Japanese-American who were born and raised in Hawaii. Although my family now lives in Los Angeles, Hawaii has always been my “heart’s home.” As a girl growing up in the islands, I always took both Hula and Japanese dance.
I would like to invite both you and your students to visit my website at www.RockFishCatalog.com, whenever you may be looking for new Island Inspired dresses to wear or for your Halau to dance in. I would also like to ask that you consider downloading and printing the attached flyers which show my dresses and describe how your friends can visit my catalog.

I would also like to invite you to view and to share with your students the online film that my husband and I produced about Hawaii. It is truly a special film that anyone who loves the Hula or Hawaiian culture will appreciate. To view our film on Hawaii, Click this link www.MyHawaiianUncle.com.
According to Bob Krauss of the Honolulu Advertiser, when he reviewed our film, Bob had to say of my Hawaiian Uncle, “Precious gifts don’t have to come in fancy packages. The world should hear about this loving old rascal, who drops pearls of wisdom in a wheezy, rasping voice. As he strums his ukulele, beauty emerges.”
If you or your students would like to learn the Secrets Of How To Lead A Happy Life In A Very Confused World from my Hawaiian Uncle Jay, I would like to suggest that you view his film. The film is particularly beautiful as it shares with the viewer a glimpse into the heart of a real Hawaiian, who himself loved to dance Hula and play ukulele.
My husband was adopted into my Uncle’s family before we met and were married. He shares many of the same qualities as my Uncle, especially his love for Hawaii.
Another thing that I would like to invite you and your students to share in is a forum on Hawaii that my husband and I are creating called M. MAC’S Secrets of Hawaii.
If you would like to learn more about the Hawaiian Islands, its culture and people and the secrets that only local people know and can share, I would like to invite you and your students to visit www.MMacsHawaii.com and share your thoughts on Hula, and your Halau. You will also have the opportunity to post pictures.
I know I would personally like to learn more about how you became involved in one of Hawaii’s great treasures, the teaching of Hula.
I would also appreciate hearing from you by E-Mail if you like our film and if you would consider a link to my website to share with your students.
My computer technician Marc Everlove asked me to include in this letter that if you or any of your students would like to create a website, he can do it for a very low cost, and has the ability to host it as well. He is very good, and I personally recommend him. You can reach Marc at www.EverMoreTech.com, or via E-Mail.
Thank you for taking the time to read my letter and for you to consider sharing it with your students. If you should need help in setting up the link between your site and mine, I would be happy to have Marc assist you. Please just let me know when you E-Mail me.
Much Aloha,
Dyanne McGrath/M. MAC |
